Technique Tip: Hand Release Pushups

mastered?!?!  Are you looking for more of a challenge??  We have just the exercise for you … Hand Release Pushups.
 
This is a simple way to increase the difficulty and intensity of performing pushups without any extra equipment.
 
To perform:
 
Start in a high plank (pushup position)
Place your hands slightly wider than shoulder width apart
Engage your core (abs, glutes, and thighs) throughout the entire exercise
Make sure that your head, shoulders and butt are in a straight line
Keep your elbows at about a 45 degree angle
Descend in a controlled manner until your chest is touching the floor
“Release” your hands off of the floor
Place your hands back on the floor underneath your shoulders and “push the floor away” locking your elbows out at the top
